Is a credit card required to sign up with the Dish Network?
In order to take advantage of the offers released by Dish Network you are required to have a valid credit card or debit card. Dish Network retailers such as VMC Satellite and Dish Pronto require a credit card. The special offers of free satellite receivers in up to four rooms means they are giving you hundreds of dollars worth of equipment for free and in return you are committing to a 24 month contract whereby the monthly programming charges are applied to your credit card.
If you don’t have a credit card then you can always use a debit card that has the Mastercard/Visa logo. Using one of these debit cards or a prepaid card is the perfect way to still be able to access the great Dish Network offers even if you don’t want to have a credit card.
Satellite dishes and the Homeowners Association
Dish Network satellite dishes are on 18″ or 20″ in diameter and comply with the Satellite Consumers Bill of Rights as released by the FCC back in 1996. What this means is that zoning ordinances and Homeowner Association covenants cannot restrict the installation of dishes such as those used and installed by Dish Network retailers.
Some Homeowners Associations might try and bluff you and still restrict the installation. Don’t let them stop you as you have Congress on your side and the 1996 Telecommunications Act is the proof. If you discuss it with the HOA representatives in a logical and calm manner, quoting the legislation of necessary, you may have an easier time.
There are plenty of Dish Network retails such as VMC Satellite and Dish Pronto with information on their websites that you can refer them to if necessary. Good luck.
I am moving house, what happens to the Dish Network equipment?
People’s circumstances can change and whilst 24 months can fly by, you may find yourself in the position of having to move before the initial 24 month commitment is up. If that is the case then you will be eligible for Dish Network’s Mover Program whereby you are entitled to free installation of your Dish Network system in your new home. You can request this once per year.
If you are moving and don’t wish to keep the satellite TV service, maybe because you are moving overseas, and it is within the 24 month period then you will simply be required to pay the lesser of $240 or $10 multiplied by the number of months still to go on the contract. Before canceling the satellite TV service it is advisable to call the customer support center and confirm the charges and process to follow.
Is there a warranty period with the satellite receivers?
For as long as you are a subscriber with Dish Network then the equipment is covered by a lifetime warranty. Some promotions, such as the one from VMC Satellite offer Dish Network’s lifetime in-home service plan so your life won’t be inconvenienced if there is an equipment failure.
Dish Network promotions for existing subscribers
The internet is full of Dish Network retailers offering great promotions of free satellite TV installation and free satellite TV equipment in 1-4 rooms from places like VMC Satellite and Dish Pronto. These promotions are in place to attract new customers and as such are not available to existing Dish Network subscribers.
If you were previously a Dish Network subscriber and are not currently one then you may be eligible for the promotions. To be sure, visit their websites via the following links, see the contact information and make some further enquiries.
High Definition TV and satellite equipment
The good folks at Dish Network are once again showing they understand the satellite TV market upside down by offering free upgrades to high-definition receivers. This means if you have just upgraded your television to a high-definition unit then you can swap out the old regular satellite receivers for the high-def satellite receivers for free.
That way you can then take advantage of over 75 HD channels on offer from Dish Network. Not difficult to see why they are the leader in HD TV programming.
