Satellite dishes and the Homeowners Association

Dish Network satellite dishes are on 18″ or 20″ in diameter and comply with the Satellite Consumers Bill of Rights as released by the FCC back in 1996. What this means is that zoning ordinances and Homeowner Association covenants cannot restrict the installation of dishes such as those used and installed by Dish Network retailers.

Some Homeowners Associations might try and bluff you and still restrict the installation. Don’t let them stop you as you have Congress on your side and the 1996 Telecommunications Act is the proof. If you discuss it with the HOA representatives in a logical and calm manner, quoting the legislation of necessary, you may have an easier time.

There are plenty of Dish Network retails such as VMC Satellite and Dish Pronto with information on their websites that you can refer them to if necessary. Good luck.
